About the Role

Join our team as an On-Call Administrative Support Specialist and become part of the exciting work happening across our Laboratory. In this dynamic position, you’ll have the opportunity to support both scientific and operational departments, contribute to projects of real impact, and build valuable experience in a world-class research environment. This role offers a mix of short- and long-term (up to 90 days) assignments, with both full- and part-time opportunities available. We’re seeking adaptable professionals who thrive in flexible schedules and enjoy taking on a variety of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clerical support across departments.
  • Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of scientific and operational teams.
  • Gain exposure to different areas of the Laboratory while building your professional skill set.

Requirements

  • Experience in administrative, secretarial, or clerical roles with transferable skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new systems such as SharePoint.
  • 2–4 years of administrative/secretarial experience.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft (highly desirable).
  • Experience coordinating complex travel arrangements.
  • Brookhaven National Laboratory requires all non-badged personnel including visitors to produce a REAL-ID or REAL-ID compliant documentation to access Brookhaven National Laboratory.
  • As a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory requires employees to obtain and maintain a DOE Uncleared Personal Identity Verification (UPIV) credential in accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) requirements.
  • The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a UPIV credential.
  • BSA employees are subject to restrictions related to participation in Foreign Government Talent Recruitment Programs, as defined and detailed in United States Department of Energy Order 486.1A.
