About the Role

The Part-Time Security position is responsible for ensuring the security of buildings and grounds, monitoring mechanical systems, patrolling roadways, and assisting with access policy compliance and events.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic checks of all buildings and grounds to ensure they are secured.
• Confirm that heat and other mechanical systems are operating.
• Patrol Cary Institute roadways during assigned hours.
• Approach visitors as necessary to assure compliance with access policy.
• Assist with events as needed.
• Complete written Security report for each shift worked.
• Open and close property gates as assigned.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Must possess a valid current NYS Security License.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Security.
• Experience working in a safety-conscious environment.
• National parks or wildlife experience a plus.

Skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Ability to work extended hours, 12 hours per day.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, for long periods.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Requires crouching, bending, kneeling, stopping, reaching, climbing.
• Requires hearing and visual acuity.
• Exposure to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, combustibles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Must follow safety precautions and OSHA regulations.
