About the Role

This is a predominantly remote-based design role for a capable BMS Design Engineer to support project delivery across various market verticals. The engineer will own design outputs, coordinate with stakeholders, and produce documentation for smooth project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Review panel drawings, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and associated technical documentation.
  • Create detailed points lists, schedules, and control documentation.
  • Interpret consultant specifications, mechanical schedules, electrical drawings, and project requirements to develop BMS design solutions.
  • Provide timely design revisions based on feedback.
  • Support design coordination across multiple market verticals.
  • Prepare clear handover information for onsite commissioning engineers.
  • Assist with technical queries during installation and commissioning, providing remote support and attending site where required.
  • Contribute to design standards, templates, and continuous improvement of internal processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes, revisions, and project documentation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a BMS design, controls engineering, or building services role.
  • Ability to work confidently from specifications, drawings, schedules, and client requirements.
  • Strong proven experience working with BMS design and control systems.
  • Trend and Tridium / Niagara experience essential.
  • Experience with other major BMS platforms is beneficial.
  • PLC and SCADA experience is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC plant, building services systems, control strategies, and integration requirements.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical schedules, electrical schematics, panel drawings, consultant specifications, and control philosophy documents.
  • Good working knowledge of open protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and associated network principles.
  • Confident producing accurate points lists, design schedules, control documentation, and technical handover packs.
  • Ability to manage multiple design packages at different stages while maintaining quality, accuracy, and programme commitments.
