About the Role
Bennett & Pless is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and analysis of structural elements and systems for diverse project types. This role involves technical specialization, mentoring junior staff, and offers growth paths in specialization or leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team to perform design and analysis of structural elements and systems.
- Serve as a technical specialist and mentor junior and mid-level team members.
- Interact with clients, attend meetings, review structural documentation, and supervise junior staff.
- Oversee design calculations, prepare construction documents, review shop drawings and submittals, conduct site reviews, and provide RFI responses.
- Coordinate information across disciplines to ensure compliance with client expectations and quality standards.
- Perform QA/QC of work performed by others.
- Mentor and provide oversight to the engineering team, responsible for their learning, professional development, and growth.
- Train and develop team members' careers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Active Professional Engineer license.
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering.
- People management experience.
- Experience with industry standard software, including Tekla Structural Designer (TSD), ETABS, SAFE, SAP, Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt.
- Project management experience/ability required.
- Structural design experience utilizing different construction materials and structural systems, including steel, concrete, and masonry design in low to mid-rise structures.
- Client management experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Revit is preferred.
