About the Role

The Online Hydrographic Surveyor conducts detailed surveys of underwater environments using advanced technology to support safe navigation, marine construction, and environmental protection. This role involves significant travel and a rotation schedule of four weeks on and four weeks off.

Responsibilities

• Inspect raw data quality and notify the Online Surveyor of issues
• Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot surveying equipment including multi-beam echo sounders, Motion Reference Units, GNSS receivers, and Gyros
• Follow QA/QC standards and suggest improvements to work methods
• Perform basic data processing to assess quality and prepare files for the Offline Surveyor
• Identify errors, anomalies, and data quality issues during collection
• Maintain accurate navigation displays and field graphics at remote vessel stations
• Interface surface and subsurface sensors into online software packages
• Communicate effectively with vessel crew and other disciplines
• Maintain project logs, records, and write field operation reports
• Perform regular system status checks on survey components

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or appropriate technical/IT related subject
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must have or be able to obtain all industry-required certificates for global work
• Military experience (4 years, preferably GIS, electronics, or communications) or 1 year of experience with BSEE/BSCE
• Proficiency in online and offline software such as EIVA, Qimera, and QINSY
• Basic knowledge of computer skills and major survey equipment manufacturer software
• Understanding of system calibrations and their effect on data quality
• Familiarity with offshore and onshore surveying techniques
• Experience with data processing and interpretation software
• Experience performing hydrographic measurements
• Experience installing and calibrating modern survey systems
