About the Role

Citywire's data platform powers products across the company, both internal and external. This role is designed for growth, offering direct mentorship from the platform lead on architecture, production engineering, and working with AI coding agents at scale.

Responsibilities

• Translate analyst requirements and SQL into production-grade dbt models, owning data contracts, documentation, testing, and scheduling.
• Build parallel compute pipelines using Spark on EMR to decompose a legacy performance engine into a modern, event-driven AWS architecture.
• Design, build, and maintain data models powering the AI platform, including fund and share class data, clickstream interactions, and CRM and finance systems.
• Ensure operational health across all pipelines via structured logging, metrics, DLQ tracking, and purposeful alerting.
• Collaborate with the analyst and data quality teams from requirement through deployment.

Requirements

• Real dbt experience, including incremental logic, tests, and understanding downstream consumer impact.
• Solid Python and SQL skills with a focus on testing production code.
• Hands-on experience deploying and debugging in AWS.
• Proficient with terminal-driven workflows, containerized environments, and shell scripting.
• Pragmatic use of AI coding assistants, including critical oversight, review, testing, and verification of generated code.
• Data intuition and rigor to investigate anomalies and validate business logic beyond passing checks.
• Accountability and resilience, taking pride in built systems and learning from production mistakes.
• Collaborative communication skills to partner with analysts and translate business logic into solutions.
