About the Role
This position will oversee the planning, execution, and management of communications and outreach projects, focusing on internal and external communications, and special project management. The role involves developing and maintaining communication plans, managing social media, event planning, website management, handling media inquiries, and supporting student recruitment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Producing promotional and outreach materials
- Conducting photography and/or videography shoots
- Advising on strategies to maximize social media presence and growth
- Researching and recommending story ideas that advance priorities and initiatives
- Tracking and monitoring outreach activities
- Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
- Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
- Conducting post-event evaluation, analysis and recommendations for changes
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of education and recent and equivalent experience
- Minimum four years of recent and related experience in outreach event and programming development and execution
- Experience organizing outreach events and initiatives from creation to execution and evaluation
- Experience in identifying and recommending creative outreach program initiatives that expand outreach audience profiles
- Proven experience investigating and pitching stories, executing interviews with academics, students, alumni and donors, and other groups of related interest, and writing feature stories
- Experience with tracking communication metrics and website analytics and preparing reports in order to evaluate and enhance communication initiatives
- Understanding and evidence of a commitment to feminist, anti-racist and queer positive principles, with direct integration in communications and events work
- Demonstrated experience with web publishing tools, social media and content management systems
- Experience writing and editing content for publication and promotion, design layout, production and distribution in hardcopy, electronic format, and on websites
- Experience in creating, editing, and distributing marketing and promotional material for events, programming, and outreach initiatives
- Advanced skills in photography and videography production and editing in Adobe Creative Cloud or other relevant platforms
- Advanced skills in content management and publishing tools (e.g., OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, MyMedia, YouTube, Vimeo or similar)
- Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as MS Teams, Zoom, Survey Monkey
- Advanced skills with social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn)
- Well-developed interpersonal and customer-service skills, with the ability to interact with others in a tactful, polite, professional, and diplomatic way
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated superior organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

Salary/Compensations
- $67,916. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,855.
