About the Role
The Business Development Analyst will drive new business growth in the Canadian market by identifying and onboarding corporate and institutional clients. This role focuses on building long-term relationships through high-volume outbound sales, while ensuring strict adherence to compliance, risk management, and client due diligence standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research to identify and target potential clients for new business opportunities.
- Perform high volume outbound sales calls (80 dials/day) with a minimum of 90 minutes talk time per day.
- Generate a minimum of 16 qualified opportunities per month.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers through various outreach methods.
- Present and promote the company's foreign exchange products and services to potential clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
- Provide regular sales reports and updates to management, including pipeline analysis and revenue forecasts.
- Continuously update knowledge of the foreign exchange market and industry best practices.
- Maintain current market knowledge by reading financial press and attending webinars.
- Maintain accurate pipeline and forecast.
- Meet set sales targets/KPIs on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Keep accurate records and client interaction notes in the Company database FXDB, in line with PIPEDA requirements.
- Diligently assess client needs and expectations.
- Ensure thorough research and analysis of client requirements for optimal service.
- Verify the authenticity and legitimacy of clients to safeguard against fraudulent entities.
- Work effectively with Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance teams to complete client onboarding.
- Ensure adequate knowledge of the client (KYC) to deliver appropriate products and services.
- Liaise with Risk and Traders regarding margin facilities.
- Engage with clients with integrity, ensuring high service standards and adherence to Monex policies.
- Understand and adhere to Monex's complaints procedure, escalating where necessary.
- Identify and appropriately manage conflicts of interest.
- Undertake the role as first-line defence with diligence.
- Ensure adherence with Monex's Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) compliance framework and other applicable Canadian regulatory principles.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a B2B sales, business development, or account management role, ideally within financial services or FX.
- Strong outbound sales track record with the ability to consistently meet call volume, talk time, and pipeline targets.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with client onboarding, KYC, and record-keeping requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively with sales, compliance, risk, and trading teams.
- High level of integrity and sound judgment when managing conflicts of interest and regulatory obligations.
- Act in accordance with the Monex Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook, and related policies.
- Compliance with PIPEDA and applicable Canadian regulatory requirements for all client and employee data.
