About the Role

Perform as the first surgical assist during Interventional procedures. Schedules are Monday-Friday, with 8 or 10-hour shifts available, no nights, weekends, or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform sterile preparation of access sites including femoral, jugular, radial, pedal, abdominal procedures, and biopsies.
• Manage all sharps, wires, catheters, and ancillary devices during procedures with the physician, including preparation, loading, and assisting during arterial closure.
• Transport patients to and from holding areas to the operative suite.
• Perform sterile preparation on the operative tray, handling and preparing all medical devices and supplies.
• Operate angiography and ultrasound equipment, including positioning, troubleshooting, and patient demographic entry.
• Transfer images and data to PACS, verifying transfer daily and documenting in the logbook.
• Perform according to radiation safety principles (ALARA), documenting radiation dose and fluoroscopy time.
• Maintain lead protective equipment cleanliness and monitor radiation badges.
• Unpack, organize, and restock inventory of medical devices.
• Communicate with IR centers admin and vendors regarding ordering of medical devices.
• Operate Spacetrax inventory management software to maintain adequate par levels.
• Preview patient schedules to prepare and pull necessary inventory for procedures.
• Clean procedure rooms post-procedure, including equipment and machinery.
• Dispose of hazardous waste according to OSHA standards.
• Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics, ensuring areas are clean, sanitary, and safe.
• Inspect facility equipment and instruments daily for proper working condition, making recommendations for replacement or repair.
• Oversee inventory usage with the IR Centers administrative team.
• Adjust inventory par levels.
• Order interventional supplies when levels are below par.
• Run monthly cycle count reports to ensure accuracy.
• Run monthly expiration reports to ensure inventory is used accordingly.
• Draw up intravenous medication and label per policy.
• Perform instrument sterilization and package surgical instruments.
• Comply with HIPPA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• BLS certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist - CST
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Thorough knowledge in computer information systems.
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
