About the Role

As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara Health, you will learn new skills from taking vitals to blood draws and daily care. You will support the admission/discharge process, assist with patient needs, and work under the direct supervision of a nurse. Teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the admission/discharge process
• Changing, bathing, and ambulating patients
• Drawing blood
• Foley catheter care
• Meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse

Requirements

• Previous direct care experience preferred

Education Level

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
• Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)
• Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
