About the Role
This role is for a dynamic Diesel Mechanic to join the growing New York Team, focusing on maintaining and repairing company equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair gas and diesel-powered engines.
- Utilize electrical and hydraulic schematics with test equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain company equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance to prevent mechanical failures.
- Uphold safety protocols and contribute to a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
- Perform repairs and recondition equipment components.
- Complete and prepare electronic work orders for maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure all company equipment is maintained in a clean, orderly, and operational condition.
- Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs).
- Read and understand manufacturer-provided literature and technical documents.
- Effectively communicate equipment conditions, issues, and recommendations to management and team members.
- Recondition equipment components and perform necessary repairs to maintain operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth daily operations and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
Requirements
- 2+ years of relevant experience or training in diesel mechanic roles.
- Certified in air brake adjustment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Must possess any necessary FAA/Airport required identification or authorizations.
- Detail-oriented and professional approach to tasks.
- Capable of lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy items weighing 75 pounds or more.
- Capable of standing, bending, climbing, and walking.
- Must be able to safely work in environments containing chemicals, cleaning materials, dust, and noise.
- Knowledge of airport Ground Service Equipment (GSE) and airport operations is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work various shifts, including weekends.
- Prepared to work in varying and inclement weather conditions.
