About the Role

Join the Fraud Strategy team at Felix, responsible for detecting, deciding on, and preventing fraud across all products, payment rails, and countries. This role will build the fraud strategy for a new card issuance program, owning authorization decisioning end-to-end and managing the fraud surface from the ground up. The focus is on creating a decisioning architecture and authorization strategy using a full toolkit, prioritizing product and action-based controls over static rules.

Responsibilities

  • Own fraud strategy for the card issuance program end-to-end, from pre-launch risk assessment through steady-state monitoring.
  • Translate the infrastructure partner's area-of-responsibility split into an operating decisioning model.
  • Design and own authorization decisioning for card transactions, including approve/decline logic, step-up authentication, velocity limits, and cross-account linkage.
  • Own network-level fraud health, monitoring fraud-to-sales and dispute ratios against card network thresholds.
  • Build the cardholder fraud lifecycle, including onboarding risk, first-card-use monitoring, and pattern detection.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to embed controls directly into the card issuance and wallet funding/spend flow.
  • Own card dispute and chargeback strategy in partnership with Fraud Operations.
  • Act as the fraud voice in ongoing vendor conversations, keeping the requirements document current.
  • Utilize SQL/BigQuery for risk assessment, backtesting, and post-launch monitoring.
  • Develop a comprehensive playbook for future card product or market expansions.

Requirements

  • 4–7+ years in fraud/risk strategy with hands-on experience in card authorization decisioning (issuer, acquirer, program manager, or processor).
  • Working knowledge of card network mechanics, including authorization/clearing/settlement flow, 3DS/SCA, network fraud-monitoring programs, and dispute reason codes.
  • Experience working with or evaluating BaaS / program-manager card issuing vendors and negotiating fraud AoR/RACI.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency for independent risk assessment and sizing.
  • Demonstrated bias toward product and action-based fraud controls over rules.
  • Comfort building in ambiguity on a 0-to-1 program.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
  • Prior experience with card issuing at a fintech or program manager (Nice to have).
  • Familiarity with stablecoin-backed card programs or general crypto experience (Nice to have).
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills (Nice to have).
  • Background in cross-border remittance or LATAM-market fraud (Nice to have).
  • Experience negotiating or managing a BIN sponsor / issuing bank relationship (Nice to have).
