About the Role

KENT Nutrition has an opportunity for a Pellet Mill/Mash Mixing Operator in Arcade, New York. This critical role performs pelleting operations efficiently while maintaining high quality standards. This is a 3rd shift opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Operate pelleting systems following company guidelines and procedures, maximizing production while maintaining quality standards.
• Pellet mixed ingredients from supply bins to load out, packing, or system bins, including pelleting and crumbling.
• Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
• Use pre-established operating parameters to pellet various feeds, then cool and crumble as necessary, ensuring all feed meets company standards and quality.
• Learn and follow good manufacturing practices, flushing pellet dies and pelleting systems.
• Safely change dies and rolls as required to accommodate different feeds.
• Lift all equipment and materials as the job requires, using various tools and physical strength.
• Perform quality assurance tests, including pellet durability tests.
• Safely operate all pelleting equipment and equipment included in the pellet systems, understanding equipment, location, and control panels.
• Perform assigned cleaning and servicing according to established guidelines and frequency schedules.
• Maintain the pelleting schedule for high efficiency and to keep subsequent operations on schedule.
• Keep pelleting reports thorough and accurate, recording all pertinent information.
• Make all necessary changes in operations to ensure product integrity.
• Operate the mash mixing system following all company procedures for various mixes.
• Follow pre-sequenced production schedules and quality control procedures.
• Learn and follow current good manufacturing practices for sequencing, flushing, and clean-outs.
• Lift 55 lbs. bags of micro-ingredients to a minimum height of 4 feet to fill and refill dump bins/feeders.
• Fill out mixing logs thoroughly and accurately, rectifying all appropriate mixes to meet company standards.
• Keep ingredient storage area clean, well swept, and neat.
• Use all micro-ingredients on a first-in, first-out basis.
• Perform weekly cleaning of equipment as outlined in the weekly cleaning schedule.
• Secure mash samples as required.
• Perform assigned Feeder Tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Management.

Requirements

• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
• Good communication skills.
• Understanding of feed manufacturing and willingness to learn and grow.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Understanding of feed mill equipment and layout.
• Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.
