About the Role

This internship focuses on supporting the social media team in creating engaging content for various platforms, including TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels, while also contributing to ZDF formats.

Responsibilities

• Support research for audience-relevant, international topics.
• Write initial journalistic texts.
• Develop scripts for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels with the editorial team.
• Assist with video editing.
• Research and source appropriate images and video footage.
• Support YouTube uploads, create subtitles, and prepare relevant documents like edit lists.
• Help develop and conceptualize social media strategies in close coordination with the editorial team.
• Contribute own ideas and experiment with new ways to tell stories on social media.
• Support the editorial management of social media content.
• Assist with community management.

Requirements

• Interest in pop culture, social politics, and real stories.
• Familiarity with YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, including current trends and what Gen Z and Y seek online.
• Ideally, initial experience in journalistic work and knowledge of source research.
• Strong writing skills and a good sense for current youth-oriented topics.
• Quick comprehension, high commitment, and resilience in stressful situations.
• Ability to observe and analyze why certain videos, hooks, and formats are successful on social media.
• Enthusiasm for developing, testing, and learning from new social media ideas.
• Previous journalistic experience is a plus.
• Enjoy writing and learning how to transform research into understandable and engaging short video scripts.
• Experience developing own TikToks, Reels, or Shorts, or writing scripts for them, is a plus.
• Team player with strong communication skills.
