About the Role
Peraton is seeking a full-time Background Investigator near Austin, TX. This role is critical for conducting government background investigations to determine employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive U.S. Government information.
Responsibilities
- Complete a 6-7 week new Investigator training program, virtually and in-person, to be certified in Federal Investigative Standards.
- Travel daily to conduct in-person background investigations.
- Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family.
- Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational institutions, financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities.
- Type and report all obtained information clearly and concisely using a government-issued computer system.
- Work independently and as part of a team of Investigators and with a Field Manager.
Requirements
- Reside within 50 miles of Austin, TX city center.
- Possess 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be able to travel daily locally and outside of the primary work area as needed.
- Maintain a home office.
- Be available for Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY)/remote travel ranging from 14-30 days away from home per TDY.
- Possess a valid driver's license and use reliable transportation.
- Carry sufficient motor vehicle insurance.
- Type accurately and efficiently (40+ WPM recommended).
- Be able to work within multiple computer programs concurrently.
- Be able to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently for communication.
- Be able to record, read, and transcribe words and numbers with high accuracy.
- Possess proficient grammar and writing skills for high-quality reports with minimal errors.
- Be able to interact professionally with others.
- Be able to write for long periods.
- Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
- Be able to pay attention to details while conducting fieldwork.
