About the Role

Responsible for the materials strategy in the assigned global business unit, including situational analysis, strategy development, and implementation guidance for supply chain development, procurement, planning, and inventory control. This role provides leadership and strategic direction to factory work cells.

Responsibilities

  • Staff the global materials team to meet objectives and establish/communicate expectations.
  • Communicate criteria to recruiters.
  • Identify individual and team strengths and development needs.
  • Create and/or validate training curriculum.
  • Coach and mentor team members.
  • Assist with the creation and management of succession plans.
  • Establish clear measurable goals and objectives for individual and team performance.
  • Solicit ongoing feedback on team member contributions.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and counseling based on feedback.
  • Express pride in the team and encourage accomplishments.
  • Assist in performing team member evaluations professionally and on time.
  • Drive continuous improvement in key metrics and organizational goals.
  • Coordinate team activities and maintain focus during crises.
  • Assist with ensuring recognition and rewards are managed fairly.
  • Provide periodic communication forums for idea exchange.
  • Organize verbal and written ideas clearly with appropriate business style.

  • Understand and align with the Corporation’s strategic direction.
  • Analyze customer needs and develop aligned materials strategy.
  • Educate factory work cells and champion materials strategy implementation.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems.
  • Define, develop, and utilize cost analysis tools.
  • Provide feedback to staff on cost and cost trends.
  • Participate in Jabil’s monthly forecast cycle.
  • Champion the execution and deployment of Jabil’s standard planning and inventory strategies.
  • Drive a systematic process to receive, evaluate, and fulfill customer demand.
  • Ensure an achievable Master Schedule is in place.
  • Ensure the Master Production Schedule is loaded in alignment with customer contracts.
  • Develop and supervise product launch plans for new business and transition plans for product transfers.
  • Evaluate the need for buffer inventory during transfer processes.
  • Ensure continuity of product supply and finished goods to the customer during transfers.
  • Oversee the disposition and transfer of residual inventory.
  • Generate and analyze inventory reports.
  • Assist in evaluating and recovering the cost of excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Recommend process and supply chain initiatives to lower inventory costs.
  • Communicate customer needs clearly to relevant teams.
  • Manage the periodic materials quotation cycle for Business Unit Strategic Commodities.
  • Identify and facilitate the qualification of new, alternate, and/or localized suppliers.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing, payment terms, and advanced supply chain optimization programs.
  • Recommend customer BOM pricing at the component level.
  • Lead efforts to obtain full commodity and sourcing control.
  • Promote the use of Jabil’s Strategic Suppliers through early design involvement and supplier qualification.
  • Focus on achievement of Jabil’s financial and operational goals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer service.
  • Represent Jabil’s materials team professionally in customer interactions.
  • Anticipate and meet/exceed customer expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively.
  • Serve as an escalation point for customer issues.
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Comply with all procedures within the company security policy.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma and eight years related experience in electronics manufacturing and materials management.
  • Experience in negotiation, cost reduction activities, and materials planning.
  • Domestic and international travel is required.
  • Customer service and management, strategic supply chain solutions and proposals, and value-add proposal creations and reviews with business unit and operations management teams preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Materials Logistics Management, or related discipline preferred.
