About the Role
The Operations Technical Lead will drive the technical direction for services and integrations within the operations domain, ensuring seamless operation of internal systems and third-party platforms to support business order and fulfillment. This role involves translating business needs into technical solutions, championing engineering standards, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Providing hands-on technical advice, code reviews and practical guidance to the team
- Managing a team of developers and quality engineers, including setting goals and priorities, providing technical guidance and mentorship, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Proactively driving continuous improvement to team performance and outcome quality.
- Ensuring solutions meet all necessary business requirements, architectural principles and applicable security and technical standards.
- Maintaining effective technical documentation.
- Owning the team’s technical backlog and working closely with the Product Owner to champion technical work during planning sessions.
- Participating in the development of system features or supporting automation, as required.
- Promote best practices, support cross-team alignment, and contribute to the technical community.
Requirements
- Strong practical experience working with commerce systems, leading engineering teams, and experience in software development, with a focus on cloud technologies.
- Proven experience integrating third-party services and platforms.
- End-to-end SDLC experience with solid architectural design knowledge.
- Experience in building scalable and secure cloud-based applications and infrastructure using AWS technologies, including Lambda, SQS, API Gateway and Dynamo DB.
- A keen awareness of architectural design patterns including eventing and microservices.
- Experience designing and integrating REST and GraphQL APIs, including webhooks and OAuth.
- A track record of leading and delivering complex initiatives involving multiple systems and partners.
- Experience with Shopify would be a bonus, but isn't essential.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Take ownership, speak up when something isn’t right, and work collaboratively across teams.
- Enjoy solving complex problems and improving how systems work together.
- Be proactive, open to change, and focused on quality and continuous improvement.
- Be curious about new technologies and interested in AI and emerging capabilities.
