About the Role

Ensures all benefits are current for individuals living in residential sites, working with residential teams and Accounts Receivable to resolve benefit and financial issues. Acts as a liaison with outside agencies to solve financial issues related to benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with Social Security, OTDA, Medicaid, and other agencies on financial issues impacting benefits.
  • Reports temporary or permanent movement to relevant entities as required.
  • Tracks SNAP Eligibility status for the month.
  • Notifies residential team and Benefits Director when Benefits have been suspended and follows up with applicable entities.
  • Maintains reporting of income in adherence to SSA regulations and supports residential staff with wage/income questions.
  • Works with residential teams to obtain paystubs and other income documentation for SSA reporting.
  • Reviews monthly wage tracking for proper resolution of overpayments.
  • Collaborates with Director of Member Benefits and Eligibility and A/R on statements for underpayment or excess income from benefits.
  • Completes Annual Representative Payee Reporting for each person with respective government entity.
  • Consults with and facilitates communication with residential teams and care coordinators on financial/benefit issues.
  • Oversees overpayment letter process to determine action needed.
  • Attends outstanding revenue monthly meetings to assist in resolving billing denials related to residential benefit issues.
  • Attends Residential Pre-Move meetings to provide and obtain benefit and Rep. Payee information.
  • Completes certification of Medicaid and SNAP on a timely basis.
  • Collaborates with AR, residential on Social Security Audits.
  • Maintains CEU credits for certification and knowledge.
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensures confidential and sensitive information is processed, maintained, and utilized according to procedures in a strict confidential manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Social Security or Medicaid knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office for windows.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
