About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and clear dishes from the dish return window during meals.
  • Maintain and clear the dish wash counter area during the shift.
  • Rinse and rack items to be sent through the dish machine.
  • Operate the dish machine as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Replenish soap and rinse agent as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Return cleaned items to correct storage spaces.
  • Organize storage spaces as needed.
  • Alert the Supervisor to any issues preventing job assignment completion.
  • Wash, rinse, and sanitize large kitchen items in the pot wash area as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dish area and pot wash.
  • Check in with Dining Hall and Kitchen management before closing down the dishwasher area.
  • Turn off, drain, disassemble, and clean the dish machine as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Clear, wash, and sanitize the dishwasher counter area.
  • Remove mats, sweep, and mop the dish area.
  • Provide support to other kitchen stations as needed, including Dining Hall and Kitchen Prep.
  • Work around knives and hot steam; carry hot pans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • Ability to frequently move items that weigh 30-50 pounds.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Ability to traverse a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to position self to perform diverse job tasks as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to exchange accurate information in various situations.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to observe details at close range.

  • Compensation package at minimum equivalent to New York State minimum wage.
