About the Role

The Capital Project Risk Management Specialist supports the implementation and continuous improvement of risk management practices across Infrastructure Ontario's capital project portfolio. The role facilitates project-level risk assessments, manages risk registers and reporting, conducts quantitative risk analysis, and works closely with project delivery teams to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. The position promotes consistent application of risk management frameworks, tools, and best practices across a variety of asset classes and delivery models.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate project-level risk assessments and support the implementation of risk management processes across assigned projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project risk registers, ensuring risks are accurately identified, assessed, and managed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct quantitative risk analysis for project cost and schedule risks and support contingency planning, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Manage and maintain risk management systems and databases, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate project information.
  • Prepare project risk reports, metrics, and analyses to support decision-making and project governance.
  • Collaborate with project delivery teams, project controls professionals, technical specialists, and external stakeholders to support proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver risk management training, workshops, and guidance to promote consistent application of risk management frameworks and practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to risk management processes, tools, reporting, and analytics.

Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline an asset.
  • Several years of experience in project controls, risk management, infrastructure delivery, construction, engineering, or a related environment.
  • Experience facilitating risk assessments and maintaining project risk registers within complex project environments.
  • Knowledge of quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis methodologies and associated software tools.
  • Familiarity with project controls disciplines such as cost management, scheduling, forecasting, and change management.
  • Experience preparing project reporting, dashboards, and analytical materials to support decision-making.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence project teams and build collaborative relationships across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience with Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA), Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA), Active Risk Manager (ARM), or similar risk management applications is considered an asset.
