About the Role

Family of Kidz is seeking a Special Educator to provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs, helping them achieve their IEP goals and foster independence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
  • Review, understand, and implement each student’s IEP mandates.
  • Collect ongoing progress data and prepare quarterly progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate session notes and submit documentation within required timelines.
  • Communicate regularly with general education teachers regarding student needs, accommodations, and classroom strategies.
  • Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
  • Maintain professional communication with families, school administrators, and related service providers.
  • Create a structured, supportive learning environment.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom routines.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.

Requirements

  • NYS Students with Disabilities Certification K-6, 7-12 (NYS SWD All Grades or Permanent Preferred).
  • Minimum of (1) year experience working in a setting focusing on supporting children and their families preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
