About the Role
Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. Our products handle information at massive scale and extend beyond web search. The NetSoft Sydney team writes internal software that helps Google forecast, plan, design, and deploy its global production network. We are fundamentally rethinking how we plan and design Google's network to be agile, flexible, and fast, while providing cutting-edge technology support. We aim for forecasting, planning, and deployment to be mostly automated, requiring experienced and creative developers. This is an exciting time to join our organization, as we foresee major challenges and impact in the coming years. The Technical Infrastructure team builds and maintains the architecture that keeps Google's products running, from data centers to next-generation platforms. We are engineers' engineers, taking things apart to rebuild them, keeping networks up and running to ensure the best and fastest user experience.
Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
- 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 1 year of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
