About the Role

We are looking for an experienced software development professional to advance our digital platforms. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing scalable applications, APIs, database-driven processes, and workflow-based systems. This position combines technical expertise with process experience from a metering point operator, specifically in market communication, device and installation management, meter data processing, and operational process automation.

Responsibilities

Support the continuous development of software applications with a focus on backend systems, APIs, and process-oriented platform logic.
Develop high-performance applications using Python, specifically with Django, Django REST Framework, and/or FastAPI.
Model, automate, and technically implement business workflows, ideally with Camunda and BPMN.
Develop and optimize database-driven applications, and create/maintain SQL queries, analyses, and data models with PostgreSQL.
Contribute to architectural decisions for scalable, maintainable, and robust software systems.
Work comfortably in a Linux environment.
Assist in the design and implementation of automated tests, integration tests, and other quality assurance measures.
Participate in CI/CD processes, deployment automation, and application containerization with Docker.
Design cloud-ready application architectures, microservices, and event-driven communication concepts.
Ensure close collaboration with product management, business departments, operations, and the development team to successfully implement business and technical requirements.

Requirements

Several years of professional software development experience as a Fullstack Developer, Backend Developer, or in a similar role.
Very good knowledge of Python and Django, Django REST Framework, and/or FastAPI.
Good knowledge of PostgreSQL, including joins, views, aggregations, and data modeling.
Experience in API design, REST, system integration, and technical integration concepts.
Experience with Camunda, BPMN, or comparable workflow/process engines.
Experience with Message Queues or Event Streaming, particularly RabbitMQ or Kafka.
Familiarity with Linux, Shell, Docker, or containerized applications.
Experience with cloud environments or cloud-ready application architectures.
Good understanding of microservices, distributed systems, service interfaces, and event-driven communication.
Understanding of software architecture, clean responsibilities, maintainability, and testability.
Experience with Git, code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
Experience in the energy industry or with metering point operators, including knowledge of energy industry process chains, meter and installation processes, gateway administration, control boxes, or requirements of § 14a EnWG is a plus.
Knowledge of frontend technologies such as React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript is desirable.
Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus or Grafana).
Experience with AI-powered development tools.
Experience in mentoring and onboarding new employees or junior developers is a plus.
