About the Role
Sonar is seeking a Marketing AI Engineer to design, build, and maintain AI agents and automated workflows that enhance the marketing function. This role involves understanding marketing processes, identifying automation opportunities, building and iterating on solutions, and reporting on their impact and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Map and prioritize automation opportunities by working closely with marketing teams to understand their processes and identify where AI agents can eliminate manual work, reduce errors, or unlock new capabilities.
- Design and build AI agents and automated workflows to streamline marketing processes, including content production, campaign operations, reporting, lead routing, and personalization.
- Own the full lifecycle of deployed agents, including monitoring, debugging, and iteration, to ensure reliability and performance.
- Track and report on workflow automation metrics, such as time saved, error rates, throughput, and business impact, providing regular dashboards and summaries to marketing leadership.
- Continuously evaluate new AI models, agent frameworks, and automation platforms to inform adoption and experimentation strategies.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Tooling & AI Operations Manager to understand the existing tool stack, ensure reliable integration of automations, and drive adoption of new AI-powered capabilities.
- Design automations that handle marketing data responsibly, focusing on data quality, privacy, and auditability.
- Produce clear documentation for all deployed agents and workflows, and conduct internal enablement sessions to help the marketing team effectively use the built solutions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in marketing operations, automation engineering, or a closely related role with a proven track record of building efficiency-improving workflows or automations.
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of marketing processes and tools, including CRM (Salesforce), marketing automation, campaign ops, analytics, and content workflows.
- Experience with no-code/low-code automation platforms (e.g., Make, Zapier, n8n) and the ability to extend them with scripting (Python and/or JavaScript).
- Working familiarity with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Assistants) or a demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs and working with marketing data structures (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, GA, Marketo).
- Strong analytical skills and experience building performance dashboards and reporting for deployed automations.
- Clear communication skills to explain automations to non-technical stakeholders and translate requirements into technical specifications.
- Intellectual curiosity and a bias to build, staying current on the AI landscape.
- Candidates must be genuinely based in the location the role is posted; relocation support is available.
- Offers of employment are contingent upon the results of a background check and reference verification.
