About the Role
The Merchandising Senior Manager oversees purchasing activities in Japan and the Islands, managing merchandising, buying, new product launches, network and distribution, and markdown planning to ensure optimal performance. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional departments, particularly the headquarters team, to align strategies and drive business success.
Responsibilities
- Work with the local Merchandising team to achieve sales/sell-through targets.
- Manage and monitor sales performance daily/monthly/annually to achieve sales budget.
- Plan buying strategy and align with report line and HQ team.
- Identify target assortment for matching regional market needs to maximize sales opportunity.
- Provide product training for the regional team, including stores, before the launch of new seasons and during the season.
- Work on special projects such as Capsules, Store Events, Store Restyling, Pop-ups, and Gaisho events.
- Manage and monitor inventory levels to maximize sales and maintain stable inventory for carry-over by store level, aiming to reach sell-through targets for seasonal options.
- Conduct extensive market research and analysis.
- Create strong collaboration with VMD, Retail, Stores, and other related divisions.
Requirements
- Ability to travel.
Skills
- Business level of English and Japanese.
- 10+ years of Merchandising experience in luxury industries.
- Experience in a retail environment with hands-on knowledge of retail processes and procedures.
