About the Role
Independently plans and conducts a variety of recreational activities in support of a planned recreation program, or assists higher-level staff in implementing a planned recreational program.
Responsibilities
- Plans a variety of recreational activities.
- Develops plans in consultation with supervisors.
- Teaches, officiates, and instructs recreational specialties including cultural, athletic, or leisure activities.
- Recruits participants and volunteers.
- Assists in planning and presenting county-wide recreational programs.
- Prepares fields and facilities for recreational activities and sporting events.
- Prepares groups for competitive activities.
- Schedules community use of recreational park, playground, and facility.
- Provides information about programs and events.
- May assist or provide information on how to reserve recreational facilities.
- Attends staff meetings.
- May supervise others.
- Performs clerical and custodial tasks.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- One year of general work experience.
- One year of specialized work experience in organizing, conducting, and/or instructing recreational or group activities.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license (Hawai‘i Type 3 or equivalent).
- Possession of valid American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certificate or equivalent prior to completion of probation.
- Possession of valid American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate, certificate of completion of the American Heart Association Health Care Provider course or equivalent prior to completion of probation.
