About the Role
We are hiring an Applied AI Researcher to own the research and applied work behind turning a scan of someone's mouth into a precise, staged plan for how their teeth should move. This role sits at the intersection of 3D geometry processing, computer vision, and multimodal deep learning, working closely with clinical and engineering teams to solve a genuinely greenfield problem within a rapidly scaling company.
Responsibilities
- Explore and design multimodal models that fuse 3D scan geometry with clinical text to condition and steer model outputs.
- Build and maintain 3D data pipelines for dental meshes, including segmentation, cleaning, registration/alignment, remeshing, and resampling.
- Build 2D computer vision components for detection and segmentation tasks.
- Design, train, and iterate on deep learning models using supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning approaches.
- Own the rigor behind training and evaluation, including choosing appropriate losses, defining and tracking metrics, and making sound architectural calls.
- Turn research ambiguity into end-to-end working systems, from first prototype to a shipped production system.
- Build ML engineering foundations for fast iteration, including GPU training, data and annotation pipelines, and experiment tracking.
Requirements
- Experience building multimodal or vision-language models, fusing image or geometry encoders with text.
- Hands-on experience across 3D geometry processing and 2D computer vision.
- Experience training and shipping deep learning models (CNNs, transformers, point/graph networks).
- Understanding of the trade-offs between supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning approaches.
- Strong focus on evaluation rigor and metrics.
- Experience working with limited or messy labeled data.
- Applied researcher mindset, prioritizing shipping functional end-to-end solutions.
- Comfort with ambiguity and novel problem-solving.
- ML engineering skills to support research without external operationalization.
- Prior exposure to medical or dental imaging is a bonus.
