About the Role

As a Software Engineer in the Model Risk Governance & Review (MRGR) team at JPMorgan Chase, you will develop tools to enhance MRGR Analytics' efficiency, reduce duplicated efforts, and optimize resource management. You will support model reviewers and governance teams by building independent testing and efficiency tools, emphasizing data controls and user alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Build data pipelines to fetch, validate, transform, and deliver data for applications, enabling reliable analytics, automation, and reporting.
  • Integrate ongoing performance monitoring requirements for models into business applications using Python and in-house frameworks.
  • Leverage developer productivity tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and enhance documentation and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for LLM integration and develop relevant solutions.
  • Build intelligent solutions to support MRGR staff activities, including workflow automation and insight generation.
  • Utilize enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation, to enhance automation value.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline with significant computer programming exposure.
  • Proficient in Python and knowledge of Tornado web framework / TypeScript / React.
  • Good understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with other functional areas on business requirements.
  • Risk and control mindset: ability to think critically, assess user needs, and create design solutions.
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
