About the Role
The Associate Professor (Level D) will provide academic and research leadership within the School of Health Sciences, focusing on advancing allied health research, education, and clinical translation. The role involves contributing to research teaching, supporting student learning, and leading collaborative research initiatives with South-Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD).
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and research leadership within the School of Health Sciences.
- Advance allied health research, education, and clinical translation.
- Contribute to the delivery and development of research teaching across health professional disciplines.
- Support student learning through high-quality teaching, curriculum development, research supervision, and coordination of research-focused learning experiences.
- Develop and lead collaborative research initiatives with South-Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD).
- Foster relationships and facilitate development of a strong research partnership across organizations via an honorary allied health appointment with SESLHD.
- Lead the growth of applied and translational research programs aligning with health service priorities.
- Support clinician-researcher development and strengthen allied health research capability.
- Contribute to the translation and implementation of evidence into clinical practice.
- Maintain a strong and nationally recognised research profile, including attracting competitive research funding and publishing impactful research.
- Lead interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Mentor higher degree research students, postdoctoral fellows, early-career academics, and clinicians.
- Foster a strong research culture and support sustainable research partnerships between UNSW and SESLHD.
- Contribute to leadership and governance activities across the School, Faculty, and University.
- Collaborate with academic, clinical, and external stakeholders to advance teaching excellence, research impact, and strategic partnerships.
Requirements
- Address the Selection Criteria outlined in the Position Description.
- Hold unrestricted work rights.
- A PhD in an allied health discipline (preference may be given to applicants with health science disciplines of dietetics, pharmacy, exercise physiology or physiotherapy).
- Registration with AHPRA or accreditation with the relevant professional association.
- Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high national/international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.
- Experience in supervision of student research projects at a pre-entry (registration or accreditation) level.
- Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches and technologies, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Experience in collaborative research projects between health services/industry and university settings, including leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
- Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
- Undergo pre-employment screening, which may include reference checks, qualification verification, right-to-work verification, WWCC and criminal history screening where relevant to the role.
- Possess a current Working with Children Check & Qualifications Check.
