About the Role

Capital One Canada is seeking an experienced and strategic sales leader to lead international acceptance, focused on the Canadian market. This role will build and lead multiple teams to close acceptance gaps across the country, leveraging the Discover network's global reach.

Responsibilities

  • Increase Discover network acceptance across the Canadian market.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand our acceptance footprint across merchants, acquirers, and payment service providers.
  • Build and lead multiple sales teams to achieve aggregate business metrics.
  • Bring further breadth and depth to our relationships across the payments ecosystem in Canada.
  • Monitor performance of existing partners, ensuring key results indicators are maintained or improved.
  • Negotiate profitable contracts with new and existing partners.
  • Monitor market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations by partnering closely with risk, legal, compliance, product and pricing teams to enhance merchant and customer experience.
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with business partners and other support groups across Capital One to ensure connectivity with and support for key initiatives and growth plans.
  • Display a passion for coaching and developing others through leadership style and presence.
  • Display a high degree of emotional intelligence, foster good team dynamics, respond effectively to employee concerns, and maximize team member potential.

Requirements

  • Experience developing deep relationships with senior level partners across many organizations within an assigned country or region.
  • Experience identifying and evaluating new market opportunities globally.
  • Experience negotiating new agreements with new partners and maximizing profitability and impact of existing relationships and businesses.
  • Experience building, motivating and developing high-performing teams, with a track record of attracting and leading top talent.
  • Experience providing creative solutions and focused on important success drivers.
  • Experience facilitating teams to innovate, create and be open to change.
  • Experience leading a sales organization to drive growth by building structure, process, and discipline leveraging best practices from across the industry.
  • Strategic Pipeline Management.
  • Analyze critical customer data to identify bottlenecks and drive sales cycle through-put.
  • Aggressively pursue new relationships and new opportunities with existing partners.
  • Leverage relationships to bring to life strategic plans over multiple year roadmaps.
  • Deep experience in B2B negotiations across partner types and cultures.
  • Proven track record of removing obstacles and influencing senior-level executive stakeholders across divisions and lines of business to achieve results.
  • Balanced use of curiosity, creativity and problem solving to optimize results and impact.
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company, as well as external stakeholders, to manage, inform and influence outcomes.
  • Leveraging data, business context, industry knowledge and broad perspective to find mutually beneficial paths forward.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, marketing or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in client management, business administration or related experience.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience.
  • At least 5 years of payments experience.
  • MBA preferred.
  • At least 7 years of leadership experience.
  • At least 10 years of payments experience.

Salary/Compensations

  • This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
