About the Role

Design and deliver secure AI solutions that support curriculum, research, and operations across Western Sydney University. This role is a landmark opportunity to shape the future of AI capabilities, underpinning future success and the transition to an AI-powered world with a people-first mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support artificial intelligence solutions.
  • Translate priority AI use cases into secure, scalable, and reliable technical solutions.
  • Work across generative AI, agentic AI, automation, and AI-enabled workflow solutions.
  • Contribute hands-on engineering capability across the AI Use Case Portfolio.
  • Apply strong software engineering, data science, integration, and responsible AI practices.
  • Deliver secure, scalable AI solutions, including generative AI applications, agentic AI solutions, intelligent agents, automation workflows, and reusable technical components.
  • Validate and optimize AI solutions within Microsoft-based environments.
  • Provide technical leadership across design, prototyping, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and operational support for AI initiatives.
  • Embed responsible AI, privacy, security, and governance controls into solution delivery.
  • Work effectively with technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve issues, and deliver fit-for-purpose AI-enabled solutions.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, software engineering, information technology, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing AI, generative AI, agentic AI, automation, machine learning, data science, software, or cloud-based solutions in complex organizations.
  • Advanced programming and engineering skills, including Python, SQL, APIs, JavaScript or TypeScript, cloud services, workflow automation, source control, testing frameworks, and data pipelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft AI and automation technologies, preferably including Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Power Platform, Azure services, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Sound knowledge of responsible AI, privacy, cyber security, and data governance, with the ability to apply technical controls, documentation, testing, and monitoring practices.
  • Must provide evidence of full-time working rights in Australia at application.

Salary/Compensations

  • $118,969 – $132,069 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.
