About the Role

As a Security Architect, you will shape the security architecture protecting Australia's payments infrastructure. You will embed Secure by Design principles, ensure solutions are secure and resilient, and influence architectural decisions to balance security risk with delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Secure by Design engagements, ensuring security is embedded throughout the solution delivery lifecycle.
• Define security architecture, design patterns, and technical standards for secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions.
• Conduct architecture assessments across cloud platforms, applications, infrastructure, APIs, and third-party technologies, providing risk-based recommendations.
• Provide expert security architecture advice, influencing solution design, technology selection, governance, and risk management.
• Drive architecture assurance through design reviews, security governance, risk assessments, and architecture approvals.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Product, Delivery, and Risk teams to ensure security requirements are understood and implemented.
• Develop and maintain reusable security reference architectures, standards, and Secure by Design guidance.
• Champion continuous improvement by evolving security architecture frameworks, governance practices, and security capabilities.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience designing and assuring secure technology solutions across enterprise-scale environments.
• Proven experience embedding Secure by Design principles into software development and technology delivery lifecycles.
• Strong experience assessing cloud platforms, SaaS solutions, APIs, infrastructure, applications, and third-party technologies from a security architecture perspective.
• Deep knowledge of security architecture frameworks, secure software development, cloud security, identity and access management, threat modelling, DevSecOps, and security control frameworks.
• Experience balancing business priorities with security risk, providing practical architecture guidance.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working collaboratively across Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Product, Risk, and Delivery teams within complex organisations.
