About the Role

This role is critical to strengthening the governance, processes, and control environment across Customer, Digital & AI (CDAI). A key focus will be supporting CDAI's business profile, including RCSA/CSA, governance, and reporting. The role will also support crews and peers with end-to-end management of risks and compliance obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pragmatic and informed risk advisory to contribute to the delivery of Customer, Digital & AI and RBS strategic Objectives.
  • Provide high quality Change Management Risk (CMRS) advice for initiatives delivered by the Crew, provide guidance/support to design optimal controls that will ensure safe delivery of the change.
  • Manage and advise on all elements of non-financial risk framework to ensure risks, issues, incidents and breach reporting meet framework requirements and are of the highest quality to drive timely resolution, remediation and improvement to the risk profile.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality risk reporting and governance insights to Risk Committees (e.g. CDAI NFRC and RBS NFRC), enabling effective oversight and informed decision-making.
  • Uphold ethical conduct and compliance by understanding relevant regulatory obligations and ensuring we take reasonable steps to deliver quality customer outcomes.
  • Role-model and drive a proactive risk management culture.
  • Collaborate with the broader Risk community including other RBS L1 Risk COEs, RBS Controls and Customer Outcomes (CCO), L2 Operational Risk and Compliance.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of risk capabilities within the team and across the Domain.

Requirements

  • Are a proactive self-starter with strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in banking/financial services/other relevant experience and/or minimum 3 years’ experience in Operational Risk management roles.
  • Have experience in all aspects of Operational Risk and Compliance Management Framework (OMRF) including controls design and management, issue and incidents management, remediation, Change Risk, Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSA) and Compliance Self-Assessment (CSA) which will be highly desirable.
  • Ability to independently deliver large projects and initiatives in a fast-paced, shifting environment.
  • Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Have sound stakeholder management skills including the ability to build rapport at all levels and with senior stakeholders.
  • Have ability to think critically/ analytically and use data insights to solve problems, diagnose Issues and recommend appropriate actions.
