About the Role

This role is part of the Global Business Unit (GBU) Control team within Market and Treasury Financial Control (MTFC), accountable for financial control process execution and framework adherence through an end-to-end controllership model. You will support the Lead Fixed Income, Balance Sheet Trading and Sydney role to ensure businesses are financially well-managed through integrity of financial reporting, effective control processes, and compliance with finance policies. You will lead and manage a team of approximately 2 senior controllers in Singapore and Sydney, support in-country Markets Finance staff, and supervise daily and periodic tasks performed by MTFC Manila colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver product, valuation, and financial control outcomes of the highest quality globally on a daily basis for Rates and Credit businesses.
  • Provide on-the-ground support and coverage for financial control processes for Balance Sheet Trading businesses in Singapore as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with GBU/Heads of Desk, Market Risk, First-Line Governance Counterparts, and Enterprise Finance Customers.
  • Provide high-quality financial insights to support commercially astute decision-making.
  • Own and/or contribute towards broader team initiatives and deputize at senior business forums.
  • Drive continuous optimization of processes and controls to ensure high-quality outputs efficiently.
  • Challenge the status quo with a continuous improvement and simplification mindset.
  • Support the wider team in evolving the team's data and systems landscape as part of the Enterprise Finance modernization agenda.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, policies, legislation, and regulations.
  • Create an environment where the NFR framework is front-and-center and minimal material NFR or audit issues are raised.
  • Add value to the business in determining areas for improvement.
  • Contribute towards the creation of a collaborative environment in both BAU and Strategic Project Deliverables.

Requirements

  • Valuation Experience/Product Knowledge: Complete valuations and use fair value techniques regularly.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identification and effective execution of improvements to processes or reporting.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate initiatives, projects, ideas, or progress to senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic in Your Approach: Look to the future and deploy resources accordingly, methodical and solution-oriented.
  • Project Management: Deliver leadership/direction to Projects in both strategic and BAU/tactical settings.
  • System Changes and Booking Model Design: Experience implementing major system changes or heavily contributing to design.
  • Technical Accounting: Experience working with accounting policy/technical accounting teams to implement key requirements.

Skills

  • Financial Markets Qualifications or CA/CPA
  • More than 15 years banking industry experience preferably in Global Markets and in controls related functions i.e. product/valuation/financial controls, including people leadership in a multi-geographic environment.
