About the Role
Provides students with academic assistance to acquire knowledge and practice skills identified in course objectives using varied and appropriate teaching methods. Plans learning activities to meet student needs based on established standards and practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist students in targeted subject areas via individual or group tutoring
- Host workshops on selected topics
- Model and encourage collaborative study strategies
- Create and manage resources for academic assistance
- Provide feedback to students on grammar, syntax, and paper format including APA style
- Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
- Meet regularly with the supervisor to provide documentation of student academic support
- Communicate with the Dean/Director of Nursing as necessary to resolve issues or concerns
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Completion of an approved professional nursing education program
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Successful completion of the NCLEX
- Ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs
- A current active unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of NY or a multi-state privilege to practice in NY
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills
- Excellent teaching and classroom management skills
- Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email
- Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screening
- Required immunizations
- Current CPR certification
- HIPAA certification
