About the Role

We have exciting opportunities for a Senior Civil Engineer and a Civil Engineer to join our Buildings team in Sydney to support multiple ongoing and future projects, including Defence and Solar Farm projects in NSW. The ideal candidate will support the NSW Buildings Civil team in delivering civil engineering design and documentation across multidisciplinary building, precinct, and energy-related projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate civil design inputs for grading, stormwater drainage, utilities, roads, access, earthworks, and external works.
• Support project delivery through all phases, including Concept design, Detailed design, and Construction phase services.
• Undertake engineering and technical tasks such as Civil design calculations, Drawing reviews, Design checks, and technical coordination under senior supervision.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including Structural engineers, Building services engineers, Sustainability specialists, Digital engineering teams, and Project managers.
• Assist with authority approvals and stakeholder coordination.
• Contribute to project governance and quality processes, including Safety in Design (SiD) review, Quality assurance activities, and Design review processes.
• Support the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and coordinated civil engineering solutions across a range of building and infrastructure projects.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and technical reports to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and project performance objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
• At least 2-7 years of relevant civil engineering experience, preferably in buildings, precincts, energy, aviation, education, commercial, infrastructure, or urban development projects.
• Working knowledge of stormwater drainage, grading, pavements, utilities, earthworks, roads, access, and external works.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards, NSW authority requirements, and local design guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail, clear communication, collaborative working style, commitment to quality, and willingness to develop technical capability under supervision are required.

Skills

• Civil design and documentation software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, 12d, DRAINS, MUSIC or equivalent tools would be desirable.
