About the Role
d|bar by Chef Daniel Boulud is a lively cocktail bar in Toronto's historic Yorkville neighbourhood. As the Host, you will be the guests' first impression, greeting them warmly, managing reservations via Open Table, and seating guests. You will possess a complete working knowledge of menus and server station assignments, and be familiar with frequent guests.
Responsibilities
- Greets guests promptly, courteously, and graciously with eye contact and a smile.
- Utilizes Open Table to take reservations.
- Reviews the daily reservation book.
- Seats guests with or without reservations.
- Has a complete working knowledge of the menus, menu ingredients, and daily unavailability.
- Is familiar with server stations, daily assignments, timing patterns, and workload capacity.
- Is familiar with frequent guests, their names, and preferences.
Requirements
- Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and spoken English.
- Continuous standing for the majority of the shift.
- Confident, outgoing personality.
- Can-do approach to any request.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Smart Serve certification is a must.
- At minimum 1 year previous Host experience in a fast-paced food and beverage operation.
- Exceptional communication skills and command of English language.
- Completion of Post Secondary Education in Hospitality or related field.
- Must possess legal work authorization in Canada.
- Work permit sponsorship is not available.
