About the Role

This role supports Davidson Kempner's Asset Management team in managing the risks, operations, and performance of the Firm's portfolio companies, loan portfolios, and real estate assets. The team focuses on maximizing performance and value while reducing operational risk, cost leakage, and execution risk across the investment lifecycle. The position offers hands-on exposure to a dynamic portfolio of principal investments with practical interaction with operating partners, servicers, and investment professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage external service providers to maximize asset performance and value.
  • Support due diligence, appointment, and monitoring of external service providers.
  • Assist with risk reviews of servicers and service providers, including oversight of asset maximization strategies, controls, and reporting.
  • Monitor cash management processes at portfolio companies and asset-owning vehicles.
  • Escalate operational, financial, reporting, or counterparty issues and coordinate remediation plans.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring business plans and asset strategies for debt, equity, and structured products.
  • Develop and maintain detailed performance reporting for internal teams.
  • Drive performance of external loan servicers, asset managers, and operating partners.
  • Support deal closing and operational on-boarding processes.
  • Work with partners and managers to support leasing initiatives, capital expenditure plans, and disposal strategies.
  • Work with special servicers and management teams on business plans and monitor progress.
  • Identify opportunities to improve returns through revenue enhancement, cost reduction, and process simplification.
  • Support structured products and loan portfolio oversight.
  • Assist with cross-functional projects for the Asset Management team.
  • Leverage IT systems and data solutions for insights, operational streamlining, and enhanced analytics.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant asset management, investment management, real estate, corporate finance, structured finance, banking, advisory, or loan servicing experience.
  • Willingness to engage in periodic travel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter and practical problem solver.
  • Ability to take ownership of deals and workstreams.
  • Strategic thinking and attention to detail.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of investment performance drivers and calculations.
  • Experience in asset management, portfolio monitoring, or operations across various asset classes.
  • Experience working with third-party service providers, portfolio companies, or operating partners.
  • Hands-on experience with financial models, business plans, and various reports.
  • Familiarity with deal execution and on-boarding processes.
  • Good understanding of corporate structures, financing arrangements, and covenants.
  • Business, finance, accounting, or economics background.
  • Aptitude for analyzing financial statements, operating data, and transaction documentation.
  • Strong cross-functional project management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work across multiple investments and deadlines.
  • Self-sufficient and comfortable working independently.
  • Strong team player.
