About the Role
The primary purpose of the role is to support Salvos Home Care (SHC) clients with general cleaning duties in accordance with their assessed individual needs and wishes, to enable the client to remain living in their home independently. You will play a key role in the maintenance and cleanliness of our client’s home which will make a real difference to residents' quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with household tasks including tidying, cleaning, laundry, and ironing, in accordance with the client’s domestic support plan and utilising appropriate equipment and supplies.
- Work within The Salvation Army Workplace Health and Safety policy, procedures, and guidelines, including in relation to safe driving, manual handling and infection prevention and control.
- Maintain respectful, effective communication and professional boundaries with clients and their informal carers, and with the SHC team.
- Complete mandatory training and contribute as a member of the SHC team, participating in staff meetings, quality improvement, and learning and development activities.
Requirements
- An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote, support and model the Christian values and ethos of The Salvation Army
- Motivation to work with older people living in the community and an understanding of their needs and of consumer directed care
- Strong customer service focus and good time management skills
- Ability to work independently and safely in a client’s home and out in the community.
- Good communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to use a smart mobile phone.
- Evidenced of the COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of employment at The Salvation Army Aged Care.
- Successful completion of a Working with Children Check.
- Mandatory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
