About the Role

At Minerva Virtual Academy, we are looking for a Senior Developer to own the technology platform's architecture, tech stack, code quality, and technical methodology. You will act as the technical deputy to our CTO and the delivery counterpart to the Head of Product & Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Own execution against the roadmap and oversee the system architecture.
  • Ensure outstanding quality and set strict technical standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to the development team.
  • Directly line-manage the Junior Technician.
  • Ensure effective software change management, fixes, and prompt problem resolution.
  • Lead constructive code reviews to provide feedback, mitigate bugs, and grow team capabilities.
  • Take full ownership of frontline day-to-day tickets and technical projects.
  • Ensure the tech team is hitting key deliverables and KPIs.
  • Translate complex engineering concepts into clear business communications, explaining technical trade-offs and risks to non-technical stakeholders without jargon.

  • Possess exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive, diligent approach.
  • Exhibit high individual agency and present thoughtful solutions alongside identified problems.
  • Maintain a calm, clear-headed demeanor under high-pressure conditions.
  • Be highly self-motivated, professional, mature, and capable of operating independently.
  • Have ambition for continuous personal and team development.
  • Have a suitable home-working set-up with a good internet connection.
  • Agree to MVA policies, including cybersecurity software.
  • Undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
  • Agree to online searches as part of due diligence checks.
  • Submit a CV and cover letter detailing your 'Why', background, and expected impact.
  • Be authentic, show initiative, and demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for online education.
