Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates N/C to machine complex parts under supervision.
  • Works to blueprints and follows program readouts.
  • Works to finish requirements and tolerances.
  • Selects specified cutting tools and makes adjustments.
  • Monitors tool performance and makes necessary changes and adjustments, including tool offsets.
  • Monitors machine operation and part quality.
  • Uses measuring and inspection equipment to check parts to specification.
  • Performs secondary operations such as drilling and de-burring if machine cycle permits.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area, tools, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, program readouts, and set-up instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math.
  • Knowledge of all required measuring tools and the ability to use them properly.
  • Understanding of machine shop and N/C terms.
  • Mechanical ability and manual dexterity.
  • Physical stamina for standing during working hours and safely handling parts and accessories.
  • Strict adherence to and use of protective procedures and devices such as safety glasses.
