About the Role

This role serves as the first dedicated People hire in the UK, acting as a trusted People partner for the UK team. You will coach managers, support employees, manage UK compliance, enhance processes, assist with hiring, and ensure the London office is an enjoyable workplace. This is a generalist role with significant ownership, allowing you to shape the evolution of People Operations in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers across the UK as their first point of contact for people matters.
  • Coach managers through performance, feedback, development, and day-to-day people challenges.
  • Act as the in-house expert on UK employment law and ensure compliance during growth.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including performance, absence, disciplinary, and grievance processes.
  • Own UK benefits and collaborate with brokers and vendors.
  • Support recruiting by screening candidates and partnering with hiring managers on UK roles.
  • Assist new hires in getting started.
  • Maintain the London office operations, including team events, supplies, and future growth planning.
  • Collaborate with Finance to support payroll and pensions.
  • Build simple, scalable People processes to support company growth.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience working as an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or People Partner in a growing company.
  • Confidence in independently handling employee relations issues.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions with minimal direction.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to earn trust across diverse personalities and working styles.
  • Experience partnering with engineering or technical teams.
  • Comfortable supporting payroll, benefits, and HR operations.
  • Experience using Rippling or another modern HR system.
  • Enjoy building new processes rather than following existing ones.
