Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for standards, recognition, and counselling of staff.
- Provide exceptional outcomes for functions ranging from 4 to 1500 people.
- Coordinate the selection, training, and development of all banquet colleagues.
- Organize and coordinate function room set-ups and food and beverage services.
- Conduct frequent inspections of banquet facilities and equipment, reporting deficiencies.
- Liaise with conveners and coordinators before, during, and after services.
- Attend pre and post-convention meetings.
- Ensure all function information is kept up to date.
- Participate in daily communication meetings with Catering, Stewarding, and Culinary Teams.
- Build strong relationships with team members to ensure high departmental morale.
- Take a constructive approach to achieving departmental goals.
- Ensure extremely high guest satisfaction, aiming for yearly increases in JDP meeting planner scores.
- Act as a client advocate to ensure outstanding guest experiences.
- Cooperate with scheduling and staff sharing during busy periods.
- Coordinate with the Executive Chef and Culinary Team on function meal service execution.
- Ensure accuracy of billing for convention services.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks including billing, gratuity distribution, buffet labels, filing, and scheduling.
- Perform frequent sitting, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and ascending/descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
- Maintain focus on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years food and beverage management experience required.
- Previous experience in banquets in a luxury hotel is preferred.
- Experience in a unionized workplace preferred.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) required.
- Post-Secondary Hospitality Degree/Diploma.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite required.
- Valid Smart Serve certification required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
