About the Role

Tomarco Contractor Specialties LLP (DBA ISAT Total Support) is seeking a full-time Design Engineer to support Engineering and Sales teams across multiple branch locations. This role contributes to high-quality engineering solutions, custom designs, seismic bracing layouts, and client-focused project support, offering opportunities for career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Custom Engineering Lead/Project Manager, reporting on task status.
  • Prepare daily custom engineering packages, including basic anchor calcs, custom suspended support designs, wall supports, riser supports, and roof-mounted designs.
  • Understand and utilize Nexus billing tracking software to input all hours.
  • Gather information for custom engineering packages with assistance from Senior Engineers, communicating with PMs, sales staff, and clients.
  • Build basic custom engineering submittals, including coversheets, back up calcs, and supporting documents.
  • Create accurate AutoCAD and/or Revit details using appropriate annotations, scale, and callouts for welds, torque, and parts/pieces.
  • Generate scope of work forms and quotations for services in collaboration with Salesmen and Branch PMs.
  • Create seismic layouts according to the ISAT manual and rules for standard bracing, including bracing legends, cover sheets, and annotated layouts for various codes (CBC, IBC, UFC).
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of ISAT products/parts and their application in projects, cataloging new support system applications.
  • Communicate effectively through correspondence, create transmittals, and send follow-up emails after coordination meetings, ensuring all communication is documented and CC'd to the Lead.
  • Maintain project files, ensuring the file structure is current and organized for easy access by all personnel.
  • Learn and utilize AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and NEXUS.
  • Acquire knowledge of codes pertinent to custom engineering, including ASCE-7, IBC, and UFC, particularly as they govern seismic engineering.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain and safeguard department devices, computers, and equipment, and report any suspicious activity.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass a background check.
