About the Role
Welsbach Electric is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join their estimating team. This role involves preparing takeoffs, pricing work, and developing proposals. The ideal candidate has experience in the NYC market, maintains organized estimates, and meets deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed takeoffs using bidding software (Accubid, Accubid Anywhere, Live Count preferred).
- Price the work and develop proposals that break the bid down by phase and by line item.
- Review drawings, specs, and addenda to define scope, inclusions, and exclusions.
- Identify project risks and develop value engineering options.
- Work with engineering staff to obtain budgeting and review risk/value engineering ideas.
- Solicit and level vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Coordinate with project managers and field staff to confirm estimate soundness.
- Maintain estimate files, historical pricing, and bid records.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of electrical estimating experience, ideally with an electrical contractor.
- Proficient in bidding software (Accubid / Accubid Anywhere). Live Count user strongly preferred.
- Able to read electrical drawings, one-lines, and specifications.
- Working knowledge of the NEC and NYC / local building codes.
- Experience bidding work in NYC, Long Island, and Northern NJ.
- Strong Excel skills and close attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and ability to deliver bids on time in a busy environment.
