About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Employee Relations (People Matters) Consultant to join our People Organisation team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You’ll lead organisational change activity for our Global Captives business, supporting restructures and wider ER projects across EMEA and the Americas, working closely with People Partners. You’ll also manage a varied caseload including complex grievances, disciplinaries, performance and capability matters, absence and wellbeing cases, contract queries, and policy consultations across the UK and Global Captives. This is a great opportunity to work internationally, partnering with stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions while tailoring your approach to different legal and cultural environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality day-to-day ER advice to business managers and People Partners/HRBPs, partnering across teams to deliver best practice.
  • Operate effectively across an international stakeholder group, collaborating across multiple jurisdictions and adapting to differing legal and cultural environments, while providing dedicated support to the UK business.
  • Support change programmes, including employee consultation, advising leaders through periods of change and helping them navigate people risk, communication and implementation.
  • Coach and influence stakeholders to achieve fair, commercial outcomes that balance risk and results.
  • Apply employment legislation, policy and procedure to ensure compliance and best practice, working with in-country stakeholders where matters span multiple jurisdictions.
  • Track and interpret legislative and code changes, translating them into clear, practical guidance.
  • Build credible relationships that promote positive employee relations across the business.
  • Deliver an effective internal ER consultancy focused on adding value and enabling colleague effectiveness.
  • Contribute to a proactive ER agenda, including projects, knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Work in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework and policies, including completing mandatory training.

Requirements

  • Excellent technical employee relations and employment law knowledge gained through employee relations, human resources generalist experience or through relevant experience in a management or legal role
  • Significant experience advising leaders through organisational change (including consultation and restructure activity), with the confidence to challenge and influence at all levels
  • Comfortable operating internationally, partnering with stakeholders in multiple jurisdictions and adapting to different legal and cultural environments, while maintaining a strong understanding of UK employment practice
  • Able to act with sensitivity and diplomacy in dealing with challenging people issues
  • Proven commercial approach with a good understanding of business needs and able to make sound judgements
  • Experience of advising and influencing line managers and adept at handling difficult conversations
  • Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment, manage workload to deliver to tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work as a team, recognise boundaries of own expertise and seek input from others as needed
