About the Role

Equinix is seeking experienced shift engineers to ensure the smooth operation of our systems and equipment. As a shift engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and evolving critical infrastructure that powers the digital world, making a significant impact on our customers, communities, and society.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the seamless operation of our facility infrastructure through diligent maintenance practices.
• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor building and data centre alarms to ensure optimal performance.
• Oversee and execute hands-on preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, including managing the permit to work system.
• Perform and manage repairs and corrective maintenance on critical equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.
• Prepare and execute planned maintenance activities to ensure the reliability of our infrastructure.
• Maintain comprehensive site logs and data records, including MOPs and scripts.
• Assist senior staff in responding to on-site incidents and take initiative in handling basic incidents.
• Complete basic work requests and circuit installations efficiently.
• Participate actively in ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance our facilities.
• Execute works projects to improve site functionality.

Requirements

• ONC/BTEC/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous experience in data centre or critical environment settings is beneficial.
• In-depth understanding of critical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems.
• HV switching experience preferred.
• Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
