About the Role

This role involves managing public credit portfolios within a dynamic, high-performing environment. It offers significant decision-making autonomy while requiring close collaboration with investment teams to meet client objectives and risk constraints.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage corporate and government bond portfolios for general funds.
• Identify and capitalize on relative value opportunities to generate outperformance.
• Ensure portfolios meet client objectives, risk appetite, and constraints.
• Monitor performance and explain deviations from benchmark indices.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and the credit research team.
• Contribute to and monitor the team’s decision-making process.
• Represent the team at internal and external forums regarding credit markets.
• Present and defend investment strategies to internal decision-making bodies.
• Propose and implement process improvements.
• Participate in or lead ad hoc projects related to public corporate bonds.
• Mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in the fixed-income market.
• At least 3 years of experience in bond credit portfolio management.
• Knowledge of the investment-grade corporate bond market in Canada or the United States.
• Strong investment judgment and ability to thrive in uncertain environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• CFA in progress or completed.
