About the Role

The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist is responsible for managing and organizing healthcare data and information within the healthcare system. This role ensures the accuracy, privacy, and security of patient records, supports healthcare providers with access to necessary information, and assists in data analysis for informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and Organize Healthcare Data
  • Create and maintain electronic health records (EHRs)
  • Code diagnoses and procedures for billing purposes

  • Ensure Privacy and Security
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
  • Implement security measures to protect patient information
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity
  • Support Healthcare Providers

  • Assist with data retrieval and reporting
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation
  • Analyze and Interpret Data
  • Identify trends and patterns in healthcare data

  • Update staff on changes in regulations and technologies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 2 year(s) of experience in health information management
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
