About the Role
Placements Mackenzie is seeking a multi-asset operations associate to join their multi-asset strategies team. This is a front-line role within the investment team, working directly with portfolio managers and traders to execute trades across equities, derivatives, and currencies. You will play a critical role in managing the full trade lifecycle for a wide range of asset classes, including equities, derivatives, and currencies. We are looking for a hands-on, proactive, and highly organized individual who thrives in a dynamic front-line environment and communicates effectively across teams to ensure accurate, reliable, and compliant trade processing.
Responsibilities
- Support trade execution in collaboration with traders to ensure timely and accurate order transmission for multiple asset classes.
- Perform pre-trade checks, including compliance validation, liquidity assessment, and trade order feasibility.
- Own the end-to-end trade lifecycle, from order creation to execution, confirmation, and settlement, as well as trade cost analysis.
- Reconcile executed trades against expected outcomes, promptly identify discrepancies, and take initiative to resolve issues.
- Act as a key point of contact for trading, portfolio management, and operations services, and follow up with confidence to ensure issues are resolved promptly.
- Review trade exceptions and escalate them, demonstrating thoroughness and persistence in resolving root causes.
- Contribute to process improvement and automation, identifying inefficiencies and proposing practical solutions.
- Maintain a strong risk management and control culture, ensuring all trades comply with regulatory and internal requirements.
Requirements
- One to three years of relevant experience in trading, trade execution, or trade operations within asset management or capital markets.
- Experience with order execution or order management systems is a significant asset.
- High attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to detect and correct errors in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to communicate confidently and proactively; comfortable following up, asking questions, and driving issues to completion.
- Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Good understanding of trading flows for equities, derivatives, and currencies.
- Experience with Bloomberg OMS and advanced Excel knowledge; experience with Python and automation is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of French and English is necessary to support clients, advisors, and team members inside and/or outside Quebec.
- Bilingualism (French, English) is required for Quebec due to frequent interactions in English.
